Hey
beautiful people!
It's
the middle of the night and I can't sleep...thousands of miles away from the
topic I touched. I decided I'll share my wonderful experience of San Francisco
visit a while back in winter.
Day 1
where we explored Fishermen's wharf, The Golden Gate bridge and touched market
street :)
My
very first step in SA. I am fairly new to USA and had no idea of actual
feel temperatures specially outside texas(hot & humid). It was cold in SA and I did not expect so. Cold weather kind of ruins the excitement for
me but not this time. I have been to places in United KIngdom and I was tired
of cold weather most of the time. I heard from people that California has
pleasant weather throughout the year. Yeah so it was pleasant but not in my
kind of way. Even then we had the most amazing time.
November
2015
We
tried to save our time by booking an early morning flight. Airport is an hour
away so we had to get up at 3 am :(. Now i know it's not that bad for most of
you with itchy feet but i usually prefer to wake up a little late. I hope
everyone who reads this are lazy bums like me :)
We had
our coffee and egg sandwich with almond croissant(yummy) which was amazing btw at the airport. Much needed
:)
We
were so sleepy even coffee couldn't keep us awake for long. We slept as soon as
we took off and so bad that I just didn't realize when we reached.
We got
out hired car from enterprise at the airport itself and reached our hotel but
since our check in time was late in the afternoon and since we came so early to
save the day, we decided to drop our luggage at the hotel and go to fishermen's
wharf. We took a bus instead of car as we know the public transport in SA is
good :)
It was
nice weather for most people, cold and sunny.
A bunch of sea lions at pier 39 were sunbathing after a meal i think. It was a sight to watch. One of them was staring at me as i took a picture or should i say posing? They looked so cute.
We had our lunch there. Fishermen's wharf has plenty of nice restaurants. From fast food to seafood, you name it. Well the only problem was that it was a holiday weekend and it was full of people. Even the queue to the women's washroom was so long, it took 15 min just to reach the actual pissing place. We had a waiting time at almost every restaurant. But there were a lot of small fast food places too along with fine diners. We saw a lot of seafood variety here.
We saw
one unusual dish , I must admit I saw it for the first time , being a
non-American and being new here I knew I haven't seen soup in bread bowl
before. It looked yummy. Although we dint try it since we were already full
with something we had I don’t even remember. Like a wrap or something at one of
the fast food places there. We were tired and had zero patience to wait at any
of the restaurants and this one(I don’t remember the name since my brain had
stopped working from hunger and later from overeating) was looking better and was comparatively less crowded with great food.
We
went to our hotel, checked in, had a hot shower and got out energies back
somehow. Hot showers always do that to me. I
love to have them when I am tired and need some energy. We weren't going to
lose this day. At this time, I started getting a headache but I tried to ignore
it so that I could enjoy my time :)
We
took our hired car to drive through the Golden Gate :). The drive was awesome. It was almost late evening and it felt suddenly very beautiful
outside. Of course since we were sitting in a warm car ;). We went through the
golden gate bridge. There are various spots to take good pictures of the Golden
gate.
One of
the spot is from the car :)
After
reaching the end, we decided to stop and take pictures again. Since it was cold
and windy, we just picked up presidio park to spend some time till it was
almost time for sunset and took more pictures.
There
are places like battery spencer where sunset could be viewed along with the
bridge , Fort point, Marshal beach, Alcatraz island which offers amazing views.
We ran out of time and energy. Hope you wouldn't :)
We came back to
the hotel after a successful visit (yeah no complaints ;)) and took off again
after parking our car to explore the place nearby. We lived close to the union
square and decided to walk :)
A little bit walk
later, my headache grew but my intolerance didn't , so we kept on walking till we
reached market street where the Christmas decorations were on full swing and
the street looked wonderful.
At last I just
dint want to sit anywhere and eat. So we took soups from Walgreens, used the
microwave in our room to warm it. Sitting in the warm hotel room, tucked in my bed after a
long tiring and of course wonderful day and drinking our hot soups. It was bliss. I
slept quickly after that ending our day 1 in SA.

for Day 1:
If you liked my
blog, I am coming up with day 2 and 3 on this space where we went
exploring Lombard street , stow lake,
Napa valley, autumn colors of small town on our way to Napa valley :)
